Dancing around like there’s no tomorrow. One because it feels like I can lose so much calories when I jump around, and two because I know that after today I can do my happy dance. Since I’ve been in a hotel industry, I don’t get my weekends. But now that it gets crazier and crazier every start of the work week, I love Fridays more! I have been appreciating Fridays now than before. See, when I used to work at the other hotel, Fridays are busy for me too since there is a huge bar/lounge there and you know when there’s a bar… Weekends mean PARTY! So yeah, here is a different world – Fridays mean slowing down and gearing up for Monday. Friday now means walking on the treadmill, putting my feet up and watching a movie, cuddling with my husband and perhaps doing my nails.
I remember when I was young, my dad would always bring my brother and I to my Lola’s (Grandma) house – my mom’s side. Religiously every Friday, my Lola will pick me and my cousin up from school, ride a tricycle (motorized vehicle used for public transportation, has 3 wheels and carries an unbelievable amount of passengers – sometimes 10 people will fit) and go to their house. Then we will do our home works there, usually my cousin and I will do our home works together. My brother goes there too but since he is five years older than my cousin and I, he gets off his class a lot later than us. Anyway, there we will supper together. My mom and my dad will go there straight from work. Mom will pack up a lot of leftovers for us – her sister calls her the Tupperware queen! My dad along with my mom’s brothers and his group of friends have their Friday group where they’ll have a few drinks and catching up – GOOD TIMES! Come 10pm or later, we would head home and do the same routine the next week.
Now we’re all grown monkeys, my cousin and my uncle are both an hour and a half drive from me, I am half the world away from the rest of my family but since technology now is way more connecting than before – we are all regularly in touch. No more Friday routines but it’s always a BIG reunion everytime there’s a trip back home. And of course, though I only have the Friday memories, we can always start do make some Friday memories of our own!
Do you have your own Friday (or any day) memories?
Hope everyone is having a great day!
