I hope everyone’s having an awesome first day of the year and not having much hung over from clinking too much last night! May good vibes be contagious 🙂
So a few weeks ago I got my goodies from Sephora and I’m in love! <3
In the box I have:
Stila Artful Eye Collector’s Edition Volume II CAD$12.00
This particular Stila palette is more of my daily / work look go to palette, not to mention it is great to travel with since it is very handy and compact. You can create the basic and the simplest looks using this or pull a sexy smoky look! The possibilities are never ending considering that this is a palette that only has five colors and for its price, it is definitely worth it. That explains why it is already sold out at Sephora.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Modern Matte Collection CAD$78.00
A great matte make up palette. I got the whole set in a thick Too Faced Plastic re-sealable bag and it came with:
Better Than Sex Mascara
This mascara has a better formulation than the Benefit They’re Real Mascara in my opinion. Though the They’re Reals have a wetter formula and is easier to apply, it smudges around my eyes and since my lids are hooded, around it I get random black marks mid day. The Better Than Sex Mascara on the other hand though a little bit drier has a better staying power for me. Just the hour glass shaped brush is not for me. I’d rather use the traditional mascara brush / applicator rather than this. What I think I would do is use the They’re Real mascara wand and dip it in Better Than Sex (if it would fit) then I’ll see if that will work better for me. With mascaras, I have not seen a mid or a high end brand that would wow me yet. Maybe I haven’t tried a ton as of the moment but the drug stores work if not better, just as fine in my opinion. I would normally use the Cover Girl or Maybelline brands and my lashes are just as great and voluminous!
Perfect Eyes Eyeliner in Perfect Black
This eye liner is very smooth as you glide it on your eyes. It sets pretty quickly and when it does, it doesn’t move. I am pleased with this eye liner and the color for me is black enough where you can use smudged on a smoky look or just a simple line on your daily simple make up.
Shadow Insurance Eye Shadow Primer
Shadow Insurance works great for me. I have extremely oily lids and my eye make up doesn’t stay for the whole day if I don’t use any eye primer. I have tried the Elf primer before and though it works, it doesn’t have the staying power that the Shadow Insurance has. The Elf primer only keeps my eye shadow on for about five hours and the creasing will start whereas the Shadow Insurance holds the same eye shadow intensity for more than eight hours and to me that is pretty impressive!
The Matte Eye Shadow Palette
I love combining both matte and shimmer shadows but when I had this palette, I have been experimenting with tons of different looks using only the shadows in this very palette and so far I am liking the looks. I love using Chinchilla as my transition color whenever I am combining the shimmers using my Naked 2 as well as using the deeper mattes on the Too Faced palette. This is really a great matte palette with a ton of basics and classic color selections.
Three piece eye make up brush set
The three piece eye brush set is travel-friendly. It came with a little brush container / protector that is very practical when packing. The brushes aren’t special, but very useful!
Urban Decay Naked 2 CAD$62.00
As we all know, this palette is very much loved and now I know why. Though most of the make up enthusiasts love the Naked series, some would say that the basics palette cannot just come with a couple of matte shadows (and that’s why it is best to mix your eye look with the Too Faced Matte Eye Shadow Palette) and I understand them but if you are creative with what you are doing, you can definitely pull off a great look using just the Naked 2 palette. I don’t know about the beauty gurus that aren’t impressed, I guess to each his own and as for me, I am in love and I am hoping to have the other two Nakeds (one and three).
Stila In The Light Palette CAD$39.00
This palette is very wearable and the shimmers are not at all overwhelming. Again, this is something that you can wear even without a matte shadow to blend the colors in. The shimmery ones have a very subtle sheen to it and it doesn’t have chunky glitters – it is just the prefect shimmer. The colors are amazing and the pigmentation is great. I would highly recommend this palette to those starting out with make up since the price point is not too high and the quality is amazing!
Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette CAD$27.00
I don’t know what to say about this palette – this is the BABY JUNIOR of the bigger Naked 2 palette that I have. Since my husband and I are both always on the road as we travel regularly, this palette to me always makes it to my travel make up bag! I love this palette as much as I love my Naked 2!
And a whole lotta samples!
Not only was I happy with everything, I gave some perfume samples to my cousins and my aunt and they are so happy! I am sure that they will repurchase (the fragrance they sampled) too since they love a few scents and even brought the samples to their cruise. So yes, these are the goodies and over all, I am happy with every single one of them! Let me know your make up palette favorites (and regrets)!
