Got really excited when I saw the big sale going on at the body shop Canada so of course I had to get something!
I didn’t get a lot of stuff but everything I got, I enjoy using except for maybe one! Let’s start with the face products:
Original Price: $25.00
Sale Price: $5.00
Got this in the shade 102 Natural Ivory and it works with my skin tone just fine. At first I thought this would be a sticky thick foundation that feels like a concealer on my skin but NO – it’s very smooth and silky and the finish is so natural. I don’t see any caking throughout the day and when I say throughout the day I mean about 10 hours and that is a good surprise! As it says on the website that it is a cream to powder foundation, I am not sure how well this is going to perform on oily skin. My skin is combination oily and it did very well. The coverage is medium and you can definitely build it up. I don’t have a problematic skin thus the very little to no need in blemish cover up. I only used one layer and buffed it with a flat top kabuki brush and my skin’s flawless! For $5, I will definitely repurchase but for $25, I have to think about it a bit.
Orignal Price: $25.00
Sale Price: $5.00
This foundation has a medium coverage and I like how it is very easy to blend. The initial impression when putting this on is a little sticky but as I move my brush around and swirl it more, it gets easier to blend. It gives a little bit of a dewy finish and a nice youthful glow. Will recommend using a face primer before applying this though to get the best result in achieving that dewy, flawless and not oily look.
Original Price: $12.00
Sale Price: $6.00
Got this in the lightest shade 01. LOVE this! For some reasons, it showed up as “free, $0.00” when added to the cart so I am not sure what promo The Body Shop has for them to give 4 pcs of this for free when I did this particular haul. This is now my highlighter / concealer and my go to everyday spot corrector! I cannot rave enough about this product and this never left my make up bag. I even gave one to my friend and she loves it too! I also bought the sharpener when I went to a local The Body Shop store near me when I realized that the ordinary jumbo sharpeners won’t do the job since this concealer pencil is way bigger! The sharpener was $6.00 (regular price) and I don’t over sharpen since I do not want to waste any product. I guess this concealer will be a daily staple for me for a long time.
Orginal Price: $25.00
Sale Price: $5.00
My initial reaction is – “is this the same as the Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation?” And when I first used it, I knew then that it is not. First of all, this is only $5 and original price is $25 – again, it is a sweet deal, right?! Tarte Airbrush Foundation is about $36 and the main difference to me at least is yes – the price and the performance. Tarte has more of a flawless, silky, natural and buildable coverage while TBS Extra Virgin Powder Foundation is more of like a light coverage type for just your typical day use.
Performance wise, comparing the Tarte and TBS – Tarte lasts longer on my face and it has a more buildable flawless coverage while TBS has a light coverage and staying power is not as good as the Tarte’s but still not bad at all.
Like I said, I don’t have a problematic skin and I have no zits to cover up, so this works well for me if I’m just running errands or just surviving a lazy day and I want to have a “my skin but better” kind of look. I cannot say anything bad about this foundation, especially when its price drops to $5! Now I am even contemplating on getting some back ups while the sale is still on going.
Original Price: $17.00
Sale Price: $8.50
I guess this is also called the Mineral Finishing Powder according to the delivery/inventory slip I got. Anyway, this product has a subtle, little sparks and I use this as my setting powder whenever I want to have that fresh dewy look. The shimmering specs are so subtle that it gives it that “just enough glow” instead of a chunky glitter fallouts. This is now a part of my everyday make up and one of my current favourites.
Original Price: $22.00
I have been dying to get my hands on Guerlain’s Meteorite’s Powder since I lost mine from before and until now my heart still breaks 🙁 So I decided to buy this Brush On Radiance and see if it’s even close to Guerlain. Of course for a lower price point, it’s hard to compare both products but for the products purpose, let’s see what this comparison leads to.
First is the scent. The Guerlain smells luxurious and TBS has not scent at all. For some, this may be a good thing since scent does not attract some ladies especially when they have perfume / scent allergies. Now the glow. Guerlain has this radiant glow that makes your face healthy and youthful and so does this TBS highlighter. The only thing about TBS is you have to watch how much you put on since it can accentuate the line and the pores on your face, making it look tired and wrinkly as oppose to making it look healthy and radiant. With the Guerlain, I can do away with a few swipes giving my face a nice dewy glow without making it look like it is over highlighted if you know what I mean.
Overall, I think Brush on Radiance is a good highlighter as long as you don’t overuse it.
Original Price: $22.00
The Brush On Beads is the bronzer version of the Brush On Radiance. The beads are radiant when evenly applied after swirling your brush around the product giving your face a healthy pigment. This is definitely a good bronzer that doubles up as a contour if you need a little slimming around your face. I used this when I was wearing a maxi dress, applied to my face, neck and a little on my shoulder / arm area and it looked fabulous! Just the perfect tan, healthy glow!
Colour Crush Lipstick
Original Price: $13.00
Sale Price: $6.50
I got this in shade Dare to Bare and it suits my skin tone. Cannot find the link to this product but there is a lipstick on the website that is kinda similar to this and it is the Colour Crush Shine Lipstick. I have a yellow undertone type of skin and this is really flattering on me. I definitely do not look dead. I have tried using this alone as well as topped with my favourite lip gloss achieving a natural lip with a hint of colour!
Original Price: $12.50
Sale Price: $6.25
Shades I got were 01 Lilac Whisper and 06 Vintage Rose. Both were good colours and great for everyday. I cannot say anything bad about this product, easy to use and very affordable. These two are great additions to my MLBB lipsticks.
Now this definitely is a bummer since I had high hopes for this. For some reasons, this lip product has a horrible smell! I had this in the shade Sheer Edelberry and it is that pretty berry colour and it is very moisturizing. I just cannot stand the smell! It smells like rotten berries to be honest so I am very disappointed! For a product as nice to the feel on the lips as this, and having that awful smell is really a no bueno! I cannot find this product on their website anymore, maybe this has been discontinued after going on sale but I was able to find this in Amazon and it retails for about $4.00.
The Body Shop. ca experience has in general been great. I think at the time of order processing, they were having problems with their system so I had to contact customer service and they were so nice and helpful. The package came in fairly quickly and everything was intact. All that I got, like I said I enjoyed, but the Delipcious, maybe I just had a bad stock or something expired that’s why it smelled that bad! But other than that, I am very pleased and will definitely be shopping again at the Body Shop.
